Direct Cat Care
Direct cat care requires an ongoing weekly commitment. Cat care shifts take place in the mornings and the evenings, with start times between 7 and 9 am for morning shifts and between 4 and 6 pm for evening shifts. Duties include playing, petting, and cuddling, as well as feeding, and cleaning litter boxes and cages. Cat care volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must have parent or guardian consent, and a guardian must be present at training and during shifts. Training is set up on an individual basis.

**Please note, if you are under 18 or have a legal guardian, you and your parent/legal guardian must complete separate volunteer applications.
Direct Dog Care
Direct dog care requires an on going weekly commitment. Dog care volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Dog volunteer shifts are typically from about 6:00-8:00am each morning and 3:00-5:00pm each afternoon. Duties include walking/exercising the dogs (most of which are larger and lack manners), playing with dogs, snuggling and brushing them as time allows. Please note this involves being outdoors even during inclement weather. While the walking trail is not long, it does include a number of hills and volunteers should be prepared with closed toed shoes and other appropriate attire for the weather. If this may be too strenuous, but you would still like to be involved, we do sometimes have a need for cleaners, which is primarily indoors. Cleaning duties involve changing soiled linens, sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes.

**Please note, if you are under 18 or have a legal guardian, please have your parent or legal guardian complete an additional volunteer application.
Foster A Dog or Cat
Foster families are always needed. FOPAS covers the cost of food and medical care, and the foster family provides a safe, loving home while the cat/dog awaits a forever home. We ask that our foster families transport the animal to adoptions events on a regular basis.

If you would like to be screened as a foster home please complete the online application for the appropriate species.
